It is reported from sources close to producer-director Shankar that his upcoming film, which would feature Kamal Haasan and would be a sequel to his 1996 super-hit film Indian, would star Nayantara as the female lead opposite Kamal.
Shankar has wrapped up the shoot of superstar Rajinikanth’s upcoming film 2.0 (sequel to his 2010 hit film Enthiran: The Robot). The post-production work of the film, touted as the most expensive film to have ever been made in the country, is going on at full swing even as the makers (Lyka Productions) are aiming to release the film across the world in a grand manner on Tamil New Year (14th April).
It is said that Nayantara, who has of late been choosing heroine-oriented and not the typical dancing-around-trees kind of roles, has been approached to play the heroine opposite Kamal in Indian 2. A few months back, Kamal Haasan announced during a reality television show that he would be starring in the Indian sequel. Shankar also appeared on stage at that time to confirm the making of the sequel.
Shankar released a ‘Indian 2’ air-balloon recently in Taiwan, giving ample hints as to what would be his next venture. Lyka Productions steps in again as the film’s producer in what is billed as the ‘most expensive’ film ever to have been made in Kamal’s career. Nayanthara has been offered the role of a revolutionary woman and whether or not she takes up the offer would be known in the coming few days!
