Versatile actor-producer Vijay Sethupathi would be seen in an old man’s get up once again – after Orange Mittai and Vikram Vedha – but this time as a 70-year old in his upcoming film titled as Seethakaathi.
Seethakaathi brings together again the successful combination of Vijay Sethupathi and director Balaji Tharaneetharan, who made the super-duper hit film Naduvula Konjam Pakkatha Kaanom in 2012. Vijay Sethupathi has grown by leaps and bounds as an actor and a star since then while Tharaneetharan hasn’t had any other hitting the screens as his Oru Pakka Kathai remains stuck for some unknown reasons.
Balaji has taken the trouble of getting Hollywood make-up artistes – the Oscar award winning du of Kevin Haney and Alex Noble – to give an unbelievable make-over to Vijay Sethupathi who hardly resembles his natural self in the get up of a bespectacled, veshti-clad old man with a crop of hair as white as milk.
The first-look poster of the film depicts Vijay Sethupathi in the above get-up, sitting in a pensive mood in an old-fashioned chair with a book on his hands. Balaji and Vijay Sethupathi made a brief visit to Los Angeles in December to finalize the latter’s appearance.
“It takes a minimum of 3-4 hours for Vijay Sethupathi to put on this special make-up,” Balaji informs. Veteran Archana, the national award-winning actress, is paired opposite Vijay Sethupathi keeping in view the age of his on-screen character. Remya Nambeesan, Gayathrie and Parvathy Nair would make ‘guest appearances’ in the film which has directors Mouli and Mahendran and Bagavathi Perumal in significant roles.
