150 films to be screened at Chennai International Film Festival

In an official press statement, the organizers of Chennai International Film Festival has confirmed that the event will begin on December 14.

“We express our sincere thanks and gratitude for your kind gesture by rendering full support for the successful conduct of our earlier 14 Editions of Chennai International Film Festival.We are happy to inform you that, We, Indo Cine Appreciation Foundation (ICAF) with the support of Govt. of India, Government of Tamil Nadu and in association with NFDC and ‘The Hindu Metro Plus’ Powered by The Hindu Tamil, organize the 15th edition of CHENNAI INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL from 14th to 21st December 2017.”, said the organizers.

150 films will be screened based on the Following are the six categories…

World Cinema
Country Focus
Retrospective
Contemporary German Films
Indian Panorama
Tamil Film Competition

The inaugural function of the Festival will be held at Kalaivanar Arangam, at 6.15 pm on Thursday, the 14th December 2017, in the august presence of Diplomats from Foreign Missions, Film personalities and a host of film lovers.

The highlights of the Festival are Films from about 50 Countries are being screened:
(i) Palme d’Or Winner – 2017, The Square (Sweden)
(ii) Palme d’Or Winner – 2016, I, Daniel Blake (UK)
(iii) Six Films will be screened under the Category “Contemporary German Films” (kind courtesy Goethe Institute)
(iv) Six films will be presented under the Category “Country Focus – Korea” (kind courtesy Korean Cultural Centre, New Delhi)
(v) Four Films will be screened under the Category “Retrospective of Mr. Christian Schwo Chow (kind courtesy Goethe Institute)

(vi) Four Films under the Category “Australian Film Showcase” (kind courtesy Australian Consulate, Chennai)

(vii) 3 French Films from French Embassy, New Delhi.
(viii) About Twelve Films will be screened under the Category of Indian Panorama
(ix) 2 Films of MGR will be screened in memory of 100 Years of MGR
(x) 12 Tamil Films will be presented for the Competitive Section for Tamil Feature Films
(xi) Films made by the Students of MGR Govt. Film & TV Institute will be screened
(xii) Films made by the Students of BOFTA will be screened
