Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest structure standing majestically at a height of 2,717 feet, dazzled with a digitized image of superstar Rajinikanth and Bollywood’s Akshay Kumar for the whole day yesterday (27th October) as the audio of Rajini’s upcoming film 2.0 was released at a never-before witnessed event in Dubai.
Produced by Lyca Productions and directed by Shankar, Rajini’s 2.0 has been acquiring phenomenal dimensions with each passing day. Shot fully in 3-D mode using 3-D cameras and billed as a sequel to Enthiran, 2.0 has been in the making for more than two years now and is scheduled to release in theatres worldwide in a grand manner on 25th January next year.
From top to bottom (sans the antenna), Burj Khalifa was ‘decorated’ with the image of Rajini and Akshay Kumar, taken from a still photograph from the film, as the producers searched for novel ways to promote the film. It may be recalled that hot-air balloons bearing the film’s image were already floated in mid-air in Hollywood, U.S.A. and in London, U.K. carrying the film’s publicity still photographs.
The audio-launch is said to have been held at a whopping cost of Rs.13 crores, which is more than four times the budget of an average Tamil film. Prior to the commencement of the audio-launch function last evening at Dubai, 3 persons (sky-divers) jumped from a height of 10000 feet over a popular tourist spot in Dubai, holding a huge balloon-banner of the film carrying Rajini and Akshay’s images.
Burj Khalifa, which has seen many such decorations in the past, would be carrying the image of an actor and the publicity still photos of a film for the first time since its inception!
