Not many frontline heroines boldly take up sex-worker’s role in Kollywood unlike in Bollywood where heroines don’t blink an eye-lid in taking up such offers. After Sangeetha and Anushka Shetty (in Dhanam and Vaanam respectively in that order), popular heroine Sada Sayyed a.k.a. Sada has now taken up the role in her upcoming film titled as Torch Light.
The 33-year old actress, who still possesses a flawless, picture-perfect figure which would make even younger actresses go red with envy, made his debut as an 18-year old teenager opposite debutant actor ‘Jayam’ Ravi in the 2002 hit film Jayam. She later went on to star in Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi films and fell out of reckoning of Tamil film-makers after pairing up with comedian Vadivelu in Eli (2015).
She now plays the lead role in director Majid’s (who made the forgettable Vijay-starrer Tamizhan more than a decade back) upcoming directorial venture Torch Light whose script reportedly deals with the lives of sex-workers. Sada plays the lead role in the film. After hosting a reality dance show on a popular regional channel last year, she has boldly taken up the sex-worker’s role hoping her fans would patronize her.
Majid is said to have made Sada interact with real-life sex-workers so as to get her slang and body-language appropriate for her character in the film. Majid says that his research prior to the commencement of the film’s shoot revealed that many sex-workers turned out to have been pushed/forced into taking up the flesh trade mainly to support their families.
