Young gun Atharvaa has landed up a major offer in his kitty, which should do his fledgling career in Kollywood a world of good: he has been roped in to play the lead role in national award-winning film-maker Seenu Ramasamy’s upcoming film.
Seenu Ramasamy’s last outing was the successful Dharma Druai which released last year. Starring Vijay Sethupathi, Tamannaah, Aishwarya Rajesh and Srushti Dange in lead roles, the film was not only critically acclaimed but courted commercial success too. Seenu had earlier directed Vijay Sethupathi in his debut film as hero in Thenmerku Paruvakaatru and in the soon-to-be-released Idam Porun Yaeval.
The duo was to join hands for the fourth time early this year with the film titled as Maamanithan but the project got ‘shelved’ as Vijay Sethupathi’s call-sheet diary had been filled for the next 12 months.
As the project got delayed, Seenu Ramasamy decided to make a ‘quickie’ in between and signed up Atharvaa to play the lead role in Oru Jeevan Azhaithathu, opening lyrics of a hugely popular song (in Maestro Ilaiyaraaja’s music) starring Atharvaa’s father and the late actor Murali from Mani Ratnam’s Pagal Nilavu. Atharvaa’s role in the film is reportedly that of a college student.
The ‘thriller’ film’s backdrop is said to be rural-based. The crew is planning to shoot the film extensive in and around Trichy. Heroine and other cast members are being finalized.
