Actor-producer Vishal, who is the general secretary of Nadigar Sangam and president of the Tamil Film Producers’ Council (TFPC), has condemned multi-faceted and mightily talented veteran film-maker T. Rajendhar for embarrassing/humiliating actress Sai Dhanshika during the recently held meet-the-press event in connection with the release of the film next Friday (06th October).
“I came to know of the recent incident at a meet-the-press event of Vizhithiru when veteran film-maker T. Rajendhar not only pulled up actress Sai Dhansikha but also humiliated her for not referring to his name during her speech. TR continued to humiliate Dhansikha even after she apologized to him and even attempted to pay obeisance to him; this is a totally unacceptable behavior by T.R.
“As we are aware, TR is a senior artiste who has dazzled in various fileds in the film industry. It is only common for an actress speaking on stage to forget in referring to her co-star’s name in her speech. Even I have forgotten to refer to a few persons on stage during my speeches in the past. After TR pointed out to Dhanshika, she apologized to him and even attempted to pay obeisance to him.
“It would have been better had TR accepted the apology from Dhanshika, who is akin to his daughter (age-wise). However, it is shocking to expect such a behavior from a veteran artiste. I know Dhanshika personally and she is highly cultured and well-behaved. I strongly condemn TR’s behavior in insulting and humiliating Dhanshika.
“I also like to make another reference on the same issue; even as TR’s behavior wa shocking, more shocking was the way actors Krishna and Vidharth reacted to TR’s remarks against Dhanshika by clapping, smiling and applauding those remarks. Even if they were not in a position to oppose TR’s remarks instantly, the least they could have done is not to smile at Dhanshika’s plight,” Vishal’s statement said.
