Actress Anjali, who came close to winning the national award for ‘best actress’ for her memorable performance in Vasanthabalan’s Andaadi Theru, has disowned her sister Aaradhaya stating that she had ‘nothing to do’ with the latter.
Known for essaying roles of substance rather than running around trees for song sequences, Anjali is notable for her performances in films such as Katradhu Tamizh, Engeyum Eppodhum, Kalakalappu and the recently-released Taramani. The actress, who has the talent to do justice to all sorts of roles, is now awaiting the release in theatres of her upcoming film Balloon opposite Jai.
Anjali’s quarrel and split with her aunt Barathi Devi a few years back was widely reported. Anjali later disowned herself completely from her aunt and started living separately. Barathi Devi’s daughter Aaradhaya is now all set to make her debut as heroine in Telugu films. After tweeting on her Twitter account praising her sister, Anjali later disowned her.
“I have only one elder sister who is married; I don’t have any other sister,” Anjali said, indicating that she wasn’t ready for a compromise with her aunt and Aaradhaya. Reacting to her comments, Aaradhaya said that Anjali’s refusal can’t deny the fact that she was her sister.
