Trisha’s ‘action’ avatar comes to the fore in Garjanai

The 30-something Trisha, who no more gets films opposite frontline heroes, has seen the writing on the wall. She has reconciled to herself that she would have to star opposite old heroes and not-so-significant heroes if she is to survive in the industry.

The actress, who doesn’t get heroine-oriented roles as she hasn’t carried many films on her own on her slender shoulders, is taking up an ‘action avatar’ in her upcoming film titled as Garjanai. She has performed high-speed Jeep driving on Kodaikkanal’s hairpin-bend tracks besides indulging in horse-riding in Karaikudi.

“Trisha had some action sequences in her not-so-successful Nayaki and this gave me enough confidence to set up such sequences in the film. She heard the script just once and agreed to star in the film.

“She has sweated out a lot for the action sequences and didn’t use a body double in sequences when we shot the ‘rope-shots’; the entire Unit was stunned that a frontline actress could take so much of risk for an action sequence,” says Sundar Balu, the debutant director of Garjanai.
