Vijay’s new film Mersal, which has run into ‘titular’ issues with the High Court of Madras restraining the crew from using the title till further orders, might go in for a new title which would be the opening lyrics of the film’s most popular song.
Atlee, who made last year’s Theri with Vijay in the lead, has made Mersal as his second film with the hero in two years. Having Kajal Aggarwal, Samantha and Nithya Menen as the triumvirate of heroines, the film ran into issues with its title as producer Raendran filed a case with the High Court of Madras requesting for stay on using the title of Mersal as he had already named and registered the title of Mersalaiyitten.
Songs and teaser of the film have been lapped up by Vijay’s fans. Rajendran’s plea has been acceded to by the High Court of Madras which has restrained the film’s crew from using the title till next Tuesday (03rd October).
Stung by the verdict, Atlee is said to have discussed with Vijay and the producer the prospect of changing the title of the film to Aalapporaan Tamizhan, the opening lyrics of the film’s most popular song. It may be noted that Vijay’s Thalaivaa faced problems aplenty in releasing in theatres due to its title and the tagline ‘It’s time to lead’; it remains to be seen what issues plague the release of Vijay’s Deepavali film.
