Soori, who has been the leading comedian of Tamil films for the past few years in view of Vadivelu’s ‘planned’ neglect of Kollywood from 2011-16 and Santhanam’s decision to play only the lead roles, is teaming up with ‘Chiyaan’ Vikram for the first time in the upcoming film Saamy 2.
Sequel to the 2003 hit film Saamy, the sequel is to go to floors from the last week of September. Hari, known for making films with a fast-paced screenplay and who had directed Vikram already in Saamy and Arul, is teaming up with national award-winning actor for the third time with Saamy II, sequel to Saamy which was about a trigger-happy cop’s struggle against a local Tirunelveli don.
Vikram and Trisha are paired up for the third time in Saamy II after Saamy and Bheema. Soori and Prabhu (who had starred with Vikram earlier in Susi Ganesan’s Kandhasamy) and Mani Ratnam’s Raavanan) play the lead roles in the sequel which also has young gun Keerthy Suresh (probably as the first heroine) in the scheme of things.
Another national award-winning actor Bobby Simha’s addition in the cast is sure to invigorate the proceedings. Priyan is the film’s cinematographer while Devi Sri Prasad replaces Harris Jayaraj, whose music in the prequel was one of the reasons for the film’s huge success at the box-office. Likewise, Vivek has been replaced by Soori.
