Producer Suresh Kamatchi, who is all set for his directorial debut with the soon-to-be-expected release in theatres of the Sripriyanka-starrer Miga Miga Avasaram, has filed cases against actor-producer Vishal, the president of the Tamil Film Producers’ Council (TFPC) and the council itself for deleting insurance details of as many as 144 producers including ‘Kalaipuli’ S. Thanu.
“A life insurance scheme for members of the Council has been in place for a long time; almost all active members have been paying premium all these years and have taken protection against some unexpected mishaps. However, the new team led by Vishal has not only cancelled the policies of a few producers and has also deleted the entire database giving details of the payments made (in the past) by those producers.
“R.B. Choudhary, I and ‘Kalaipuli’ S. Thanu are among such unfortunate producers. Soon as I got information about the deletion of the payment database of a few producers by the management controlled by Vishal, I sent an e-mail message to the Sanam which responded stating that my account had been deleted/removed. When we took the policy, they consulted us but didn’t inform us while deleting our accounts.
“Why has this been done? Many of those producers are seniors who are prone to getting all kinds of illnesses relating to old age. If something happens to them, they are not covered under the insurance scheme which is ironical. It’s a planned fraud and I have moved the Court in this regarding hoping it would get us justice,” Suresh said.
