Actor-choreographer-director-producer Prabhu Deva, who has been in the industry now for close to 30 years, is finally essaying a negative role in an upcoming Tamil film titled as Mercury.
Prabhu Deva, who started off in the late eighties as an ‘item dance’ specialist, later graduated to playing lead roles and starred in plenty of Tamil films for more than a decade before foraying into Tollywood and later to Bollywood where he directed and produced many blockbuster films, some of which are part of the prestigious Rs.100-crore club in theatrical collections.
He took a break from making films and starred in last year’s Tamil-Telugu-Hindi hit film Devy while producing it. By essaying the hero in the film, he returned to acting after more than a decade. The shoot of his next film Kulebakavali opposite Hansika (he was the director of Hansika’s debut Tamil film Engeyum Kadhal a few years back) has just been wrapped up. The film is to release in a few weeks’ time from now.
In the meantime, he plays the hero opposite Lakshmi Menon in Yung Mung Chung and has also agreed to play the antagonist in a film titled as Mercury which has Sanath Reddy (known for his roles in many short films) debuting as hero in Kollywood. It appears that Prabhu Deva has decided to go the Aravind Swamy way by portraying all kinds of roles that he is offered!
