Cinematographer-turned-director Vijay Milton, who has choreographed films such as Kaadhal, Deepavali, Vazhakku Enn 18/9, has directed a couple of films in Goli Soda and the Vikram-Samantha starrer 10 Enradhukulla. He is now working on his third film as director, which would be a sequel to his debut directorial venture Goli Soda.
Made in 2014 and based on the lives of a few boys working at the sprawling Vegetable Market in Koyambedu in Chennai, Goli Soda struck an immediate emotional chord with audiences and was a runaway hit film. Made with a low budget, the film was not only critically acclaimed but was also a commercial success. Milton is now mid-way into making a sequel to Goli Soda.
The sequel would have a set of newcomers essaying lead roles while actor-director-producer Samuthirakani plays a ‘never-before’ role in the film which is apparently about the game of football. A few youths, who are put down by criticism, pump themselves up and show to others what they are capable of. Samuthirakani plays an ‘elderly person’ who guides these youths into achieving their objective.
Samuthirakani appears in grey-hair and with thick glasses. The film’s audio-teaser was released some time back on Twitter by ace filmmaker Gautham Vasudev Menon who has also given the ‘voice over’ for the brief video. Vijay Milton is cinematographing the film besides directing it and producing it under his own banner. The film is slated to release in theatres in January next year.
