Vimal and Oviya Helen, who starred in the lead in the hit film Kalavani seven years back, are coming together as on-screen pair again for the sequel to the film.
2010 hit film Kalavani was the debut directorial venture of A. Sarkunam, who later went on to make in 2011 the national award-winning film Vaagai Sooda Vaa. Sarkunam also made the Dhanush-Nazriya Nazim starrer Naiyaandi and the Atharvaa-Anandhi starrer Chandi Veeran. He also produced the Nayantara-starrer Dora which released early this year.
The fun-filled Kalavani was loved by audiences, patronized by movie-goers and lauded by critics. The sequel to the film, named aptly as Kalavani 2, won’t exactly take off from where the prequel ended but would have a fresh script. Vimal, who has committed to star in Mannar Vagera and Vetrivel fame Vasanthamani’s new film (which also has Samuthirakani in a prominent role), would start work in Kalavani 2 later this year.
In the meantime, Sarkunam would have wrapped up the shoot of his uncoming untitled film starring Madhavan in the lead.
