Usually, when a film is launched, the director and the film’s hero happen to be in the best of terms but the relationship may tend to go awry. However, this is not the case with Panneerselvam (of Renigunta fame) and actor Vijay Sethupathi who have become the best of pals by the time they wrapped up the shoot of their upcoming film Karuppan which brought them together for the first time.
Vijay Sethupathi, who was given the title of ‘Makkal Selvan’ by director Seenu Ramaswamy, has starred in the role of a Jallikkattu fighter in Karuppan which has him romancing Tanya, grand-daughter of veteran actor Ravichandran. Vijay Sethupathi spoke at length about his association at the recently held audio-launch of Karuppan. Music director D. Imman released the film’s audio.
“Panneerselvam has depicted even the role of a call-girl in a highly dignified manner in the film sans any obscenity and glamour. Even a first-night song in the film has been picturised in a most lovable manner. He has never spoken ill of others all these days. Producer Rathnam has the knack of how to market and make successful a commercially viable venture.
“I suggested to Panneerselvam to cast my friend Bobby Simha in the antagonist’s role; he readily agreed to it. I didn’t tame the bull myself but the sequence has been shot nicely with the help of real-life bull fighters. I don’t insist my directors to listen to my point of view about the script,” he said and added that criticism can never become a thing of the past as people are known to be critical of each other at all times.
