The D-Day is today for actor Ajith Kumar’s fans as his Vivegam hits the screens across Tamil Nadu and elsewhere. In a record of sorts, the film releases in more than 700 theatres in Malaysia itself, including in 109 malls.
The film’s pre-release business is mind-boggling, to say the least. Directed by Siva (who had earlier made Ajith’s Veeram and Vivegam), the film has Ajith in three different get-ups and is also the first Ajith-starrer to have taken Rs.100 crores in its making. More than 90% of the shoot has been held in Bulgaria and Europe and in locales which had never seen any Tamil film crew member setting his/her foot on it.
The trailer had already rocked as the film had been sold to distributors across Tamil Nadu for a whopping Rs.50 crores. The release rights of the film in other States and in foreign countries coupled with its satellite broadcasting rights have netted another Rs.100 crores, making the film collect more than Rs.150 crores even before it had hit the screens!
The global release is marked by the film’s release in U.S., U.K. and in countries across the Europe and Gulf. In Malaysia alone, the film is released in more than 700 halls including in 109 malls.
