Pavithran, who made films such as Vasanthakala Paravai, Sooriyan, Thirumurthy and Kalloori Vasal, makes a comeback to Kollywood after a long hiatus to direct Dharavi whose script is about the Tamils who live in Mumbai for the past many years, making it their second home.
Sathish Bala, Mumbai Krishna, Prabhu Sathish, Lingam Siva and Leo ar the newcomers who make their debut with Dharavi which has music by Abhay, a debutant music director and who is also the son of director Pavithran. Sunu plays a Tamil girl in Dharavi.
“A few youths work as Cable TV operators in Dharavi; one of the youths fall in love with a rich college girl in the same locality. Whether or not he manages to get the girl’s hand in marriage amid all the hurdles is what the script of the film is all about. We shot the film entirely in Dharavi with the help of the locals and have recorded Tamils’ lives in the most natural and practical manner,” Pavithran informs.
