It is reported that the soon-to-be-released film Thiruma Varuven, a dubbed film from Telugu, is a biopic on slain LTTE chief V. Prabhakaran.
Starring Tollywood superstar Mohanbabu’s son Manoj Manchu in the lead and titled as Okkadu Mikiladu, the film has Manoj essaying the role of an armed rebel.
It is now reported that the film’s script is actually an unofficial biopic on the life of V. Prabhakaran, the former chief of Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE), who was killed brutally in a bloody civil war which erupted in Lanka a few years back.
The film’s tagline which reads ‘Untold Story’ is said to be a direct reference to the story which would be lapped up by Tamils the world over. Directed by Ajay Andrews and produced by Padmaja Films, the film’s shoot was held in Lanka recently. The film is to be released in Tamil in its dubbed version titled as Naan Thirumba Varuven. Suresh Jithan has penned the lyrics of the Tamil version besides translating the dialogues.
The film is to have a simultaneous release in its Tamil and Telugu versions during mid-September. As the film is the first-ever attempt by a film-maker to look into the life of one of the most respected and dreaded militant leaders in the world, Tamils are no doubt looking eagerly towards the release of the film though they are not so happy with Kollywood that no film-maker of substance ever tried to make such a film so far!
