It is reported that actress Hansika, who had shed loads of flab and looks a fortune with a well-toned complexion and an hour-glass figure, is still hopeful of getting the offer to play the lead role in Sundar C’s magnum opus Sangamithra.
As reported earlier, Shruti Haasan was signed up as the heroine of the Tamil-Telugu bilingual film to be produced at a whopping cost of Rs.100 crores by Sri Thenandal Films. Shruti underwent martial arts classes and trained in sword fighting to prepare for her title role of a warrior princess. She even promoted the film at its introduction at Cannes Film Festival a few months back before voluntarily opting out of the film.
Shruti’s exit paved way for rumours that Nayantara might step in as the heroine opposite ‘Jayam’ Ravi and Arya, the two heroes of the film. Nayan denied that she was in the reckoning after which it was said Sundar C might turn to his favourite heroine Hansika but that wasn’t the case to be as Hansika signed up Kulebakavali opposite Prabhu Deva, the director of her debut Tamil film Engeyum Kadhal.
Sources close to the actress say that she is still hopeful of getting the offer to play the title role in Sangamithra as Sundar’s search for a heroine hasn’t met with any degree of success. She assumes that for a mega-budget film, the producer might opt to go only for a popular heroine instead of a newcomer and hopes that her close proximity to Sundar and his actress-wife Khushboo might land the film in her lap!
