It has been announced that actress Hansika won’t be part of the bilingual high-budget period venture Sangamithra which would be helmed by Sundar C, who has favoured Hansika as heroine in his past ventures.
To be produced by Sri Thenandal Films at a whopping budget, Sangamithra was ‘introduced’ at the annual Cannes International Film Festival a few months back by Shruti Haasan and other crew members. However, soon after the event, Shruti Haasan announced that she was walking out of the project stating that she couldn’t allot dates for the film’s shoot as she wasn’t given the script by the film-maker.
‘Jayam’ Ravi and Arya had already been signed up as the twin-heroes in the Tamil-Telugu bilingual project. After Shruti Haasan walked out of the project, names of Nayantara and Sundar C’s favourite heroine Hansika were referred to as the possible replacements. After Nayan denied that she wasnpt approached to star in the film, it was concluded by fans of actress Hansika that she would be cast as the female lead.
It now turns out that Hansika is also out of the project. A Unit source said on condition of anonymity that the crew wanted a ravishing newcomer. “Hunt is on for a fresh face to play the heroine,” it said. It may be noted that Arya had grown huge moustache for his role in the film while ‘Jayam’ Ravi is training in sword-fighting to prepare himself for his role.
For the first time, Sundar C is teaming up with Oscar-award winning music director A.R. Rahman for Sangamithra.
