Actress Kasthuri, who has been very active on social networking sites these days, has wondered what was the reason for the ‘haste’ displayed by the authorities in uprooting the statue of the late and legendary Sivaji Ganesan from the Marina at midnight to relocate it at a place in Adyar.
A case was filed with the High Court of Madras stating that the statue had been hampering easy flow of traffic on the Marina after which the Court ordered the authorities to shift it to a different location in the city. In the meantime, the statue was removed in a late-night operation on Thursday.
Tweeting on her Twitter account, Kasthuri has said “I want to know the truth: who filed the case against the statue and who argued it?” She further asked what was the reason for the haste displayed by the authorities in removing the statue at midnight. “If someone knows the truth, please reveal it for the sake of myself and others,” she has tweeted.
Kamal Haasan joined the issue with her on Twitter by tweeting that Sivaji was someone whose image would remain etched forever in Tamils’ hearts. “Let’s make a statue for him and save it (from the Govt.),” was Kamal’s tweet which has been re-tweeted with pleasure by the late Sivaji Ganesan’s grandson and actor Vikram Prabhu.
