Soundarya Rajinikanth, youngest daughter of superstar Rajinikanth and sister-in-law of national award-winning actor Dhanush, has conceded that she indeed had some spells of misunderstanding with the latter during the making of her upcoming directorial venture Velaiilla Pattathari 2 which hits screens across the State and elsewhere next Friday (28th July).
Sequel to the 2015 super-hit film Velaiyilla Pattathari and starring Dhanush, Kajol Devgn, Amala Paul and Samuthirakani in lead roles and, Velaiilla Pattathari 2 has been in the making for the past many months. The film’s teaser, trailer and songs have already become huge hits with audiences and Dhanush’s fans waiting impatiently for the film to release in theatres on 28th April on Dhanush’s birthday.
Soundarya, who debuted as director more than 3 years back with the animation 3-D venture Kochadaiyaan, is making her first flesh-and-blood film with VIP 2 which has the 40-plus but still stylish, majestic and sexy-looking Kajol, playing the antagonist. Her role has been kept under wraps but insiders say that her role would be as powerful as actress Ramya Krishnan’s unforgettable ‘Neelambari’ in Padaiyappa.
“I and Dhanush are good friends, no doubt. After I conceived the script of VIP 2, we kept discussing it non-stop and had a misunderstanding or two among us. However we sorted it out and I found Dhanush very helpful in giving his outputs. He is vastly experienced in the film industry and he made sure that he contributed in every possible manner.
“Dhanush gave me complete liberty in shaping the film’s screenplay. I have found directing Dhanush and Appa (Rajini) easy as both are great actors who forget that I’m their relative once they face the camera. This, in fact, made my task an interesting one,” concludes Soundarya, who has legally separated from her husband Ashwin.
