Hansika, who was written off by critics last year and who appeared to be down and out, came back strongly with the successful Bogan (which released in February) and the hugely popular Sendhoora song.
The actress, who turns 26 in less than a month’s time, now gets back to where it all started for her in Kollywood. After working with choreographer-turned-hero-turned-filmmaker Prabhu Deva in her very first film Engeyum Kadhal in 2011, she is now working with Prabhu Deva again: this time, though, he won’t be directing her but would in fact be pairing up opposite her!
With a film each in Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam, Hansika has sure become a multi-lingual actress but her ‘market value’ appears to have come down considerably when compared to the likes of Kajal Aggarwals, Tamannaahs and Trishas. A very well-known philanthropist at heart, the actress debuted in films when she was only early in her teens and has already completed more than a decade in films as a heroine!
“I feel I have a long way to go as an actress and would be working hard for the next five years. I debuted in a film directed by Prabhu Deva, played the heroine in Bogan which was co-produced by him and am pairing up opposite him in Gulebakavali. I hardly spoke to him during Engeyum Kadhal but chatter with him non-stop during the shoot of Gulebakavali.
“I used to mimic my co-artistes and invariably, this happens whenever he enters the set for the shoot scheduled for the day. During dance sequences, I would be very tense but he would be the opposite: cool as a cucumber. He also encouraged me and has been teaching me the nuances of dancing. I’m thankful to him for being so cooperative,” Hansika concluded.
