Dasavathaaram (also spelt as Dasavatharam) has received mind-boggling response throughout USA. The movie was released in nearly 50 major cities across America, with almost all shows running to packed houses over the weekend. Dasavathaaram has broken all prior records for a South Indian movie’s opening in the US (in terms of box office collection as well as number of theatres and number of shows).
The film was released in three languages worldwide; in Tamil, Hindi, and Telugu. The response to the other two versions is also incredibly amazing. The Telugu version received an unbelievable response; it was similar to the response elicited by a Chiranjeevi movie! The Hindi version of Dasavathaaram even overthrew Sarkar Raj!
The mood of the audience was euphoric. Every single person was excited. It looked like as if they had gathered to watch some rare celestial phenomenon.
Huge crowds invaded major cinema halls across America; long lines were seen in all theatres where Dasavathaaram was screened. People were seen discussing the various roles played by Kamal. Every one was appreciative of the hard work by Kamal Haasan and the boldness of producer Aascar Ravichandran for going the extra mile to make this film grand. Every one was of one opinion that this film definitely has made the whole world to sit up and take notice of Indian Cinema.
Indeed, the whole world is watching it with awe. Amongst the audiences, there were Americans and NRIs from all states — Tamils, Andhras, Malayalees, Kannadigas, and so on. All of them gathered at one point to watch this phenomenon called Dasavathaaram.
The Dasavathaaram craze is, in fact, growing day by day. Advance bookings for the second week are very strong and it looks like the second weekend too will witness the same frenzy that opening weekend did; some will still see “House Full” boards, not the movie, if they do not book tickets in advance. With the news about Dasavathaaram’s magnificence spreading like wildfire and given the ticket sales, it looks like the subsequent weekends will bring more audiences and bulk bookings.
