Actress Shruti Haasan, the multi-faceted and mightily talented eldest daughter of actor-producer-director-playback singer-scriptwriter Kamal Haasan, is turning a new leaf in her life by penning the script of one of her upcoming films.
It may be recalled that Shruti’s initial tryst in the film industry (not as child artiste) was as music director in her father’s Unnaipol Oruvan. She later debuted as heroine in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi films, sings songs in films for herself and other heroines, and has also been guiding her younger sister Akshara Haasan’s career.
Trained in classical dance and singing, Shruti told a leading daily recently that she has always felt that she had in it (to indulge in creative writing).
“I used to write my own lyrics and set music to them. I had also penned short stores and small poems during my air-travel. Based on this experience, I have now agreed to pen the script of an upcoming film. It’s a special task, of course, and would take me a few months to complete it. The language and the name of the film won’t be revealed for now,” she laughs.
“I also made a short film to raise social awareness on a major issue. I’m planning in the coming days to release small and medium-budget films in my banner,” she says.
