Though it hasn’t been officially intimated, it is believed in film circles that bubbly Hansika might be roped in as the replacement in place of Shruti Haasan in Sundar C’s mega-project Sangamithra.
The Tamil-Telugu period drama, whose script is set in the backdrop of occurrences which took place in 08th century A.D., is being produced by Sri Thenandal Films at a huge cost, making it the most expensive film as on date directed by Sundar C.
Shruti Haasan, who was to play the title role of a warrior princess, underwent rigorous combat exercises for the film. She even released on social networking sites pictures of her sword-training sessions in London before attending the launch of the first-look posters of the film at the annual Cannes International Film Festival in France recently.
She, however, opted out of the film soon after its promotion at Cannes Festival stating that she hadn’t been shown the script till that time. Though the production house denied this, it has already started looking for a replacement for Shruti and has sounded the likes of Anushka Shetty and Nayantara to step into Shruti’s shoes.
Insiders say that Sundar C might finally opt for Hansika, who has starred in Aranmanai and Aranmanai 2 in his direction in the past, to play the lead role in the period venture. A final word, however, hasn’t been said so far in this regard.
