Venkat Prabhu, the actor-turned-director, is playing a honest copy in an upcoming titled as Kalavu.
Director of successful ventures such as Chennai 600028, Saroja, Goa, Mankatha, Biriyani, Maasu Engira Maasilamani and Chennai 600028 II: Second Innings, Venkat Prabhu started off as an actor fifteen years back with the Srikanth-starrer April Maadathil and starred in many films besides playing cameos.
The actor in him, however, appears to have taken over his film-making instincts in Kalavu which is directed by debutant film-maker Murali Karthik.
“Prabhu’s character in the film is that of a honest, sincere cop and would be sans the usual film(y) cop’s traits; this character would have a huge impact in the overall backdrop of the film,” says Karthik. Kalavu would be Venkat Prabhu’s first full-fledged film as an actor after turning director more than a decade back.
