26 years after he made the super-duper hit film Thalapathi starring superstar Rajinikanth and Mollywood megastar Mammootty in the lead, ace director Mani Ratnam is said to be planning to make another film starring the duo.
Rajini and Mammootty’s screen presence and the script of Thalapathi along with Maestro Ilaiyaraaja’s memorable background music and songs made the film a super-duper hit. The song Rakkamma Kaiyathattu from the film topped a global online poll (conducted a few years back) of 100 most ‘impactful’ songs ever in Tamil films.
Mani Ratnam’s latest offering Kaatru Veliyidai didn’t fare well at the box-office and he is now said to have commenced the script-writing work for hi supcoming untitled film which is likely to star Rajini and Mammootty in the lead again. Script is being penned in such a manner as to give equal weightage of the characters of both the heroes.
Rajini, who is said to have completed the shoot of Shankar’s 2.0, is presently taking rest as the shoot of his upcoming untitled film to be directed by Pa. Ranjith is all set to commence in Mumbai on 28th of this month. It now appears that for Mani Ratnam’s sake, Rajini miht relax his condition of ‘one-film-at-a-time’!
