Sridevi, the 50-plus actress who was once the ‘queen bee’ of Kollywood and then moved on to Bollywood where she was on top along with Madhuri Dixit for 15 long years, has confessed that her voice (as singer) is so bad that her daughters could hardly tolerate her lullabies!
Sridevi, who is expecting the release in theatres of her upcoming film Mom, has a couple of daughters in jhanvi and Khushi. Jhanvi is said to be receiving several offers from Hindi and other language film industries to make her debut in films as an actress but Sridevi is reportedly keen in ensuring that both the daughters secure academic qualifications before they could try their luck in any other profession.
“Of course, I have read bed-time stories for them countless number of times but the moment when I started singing lullabies to put them to sleep, they would invariably protest and pretend to have fallen asleep so that I would stop singing. My voice as a singer sound(ed)s very bad to them,” confesses the actress who has starred in many films opposite Kamal Haasan, superstar Rajinikanth and brother-in-law Anil Kapoor.
“My daughters are, however, great understanding souls and they possess a very casual attitude which never made me to be strict with them,” adds Sridevi. “In fact, I’m more of a friend to them than a mother,” concludes the actress.
