As expected, Baahubali 2 has been going great guns at the global box-office and has collected more than Rs.300 crores in its first two days!
Starring Prabhas, Tamannaah, Rana Daggubati, Anushka Shetty and Ramya Krishnan in the lead, Baahubali 2 (sequel to the super-duper hit 2015 film Baahubali) released in more than 6,500 theatres worldwide last Friday (28th April). One of the most-awaited films of the year, the film opened to thunderous response from audiences across the country and elsewhere.
In Tamil Nadu, though, the film’s release was marred by many difficulties and the film released only after 11:00 in the morning after a few miscreants released the film on the Net. Notwithstanding this, Baahubali 2 collected a whopping Rs.121 crores on its first day itself, with the Hindi version raking in Rs.41 crores and the remaining Rs.80 crores coming from the Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam versions.
Bollywood film-maker Karan Johar, who took up the release of the Hindi version, has stated that the film’s collections at the end of the second day stood at more than Rs.300 crores. Trade pundits and analysts have predicted that it may only be a matter of time before the film goes on to beat the all-time grossing record of Rs.792 crores held thus far by Aamir Khan’s PK!
Meanwhile, shows in U.S. collected Rs.29 crors on the first day!
