Testing patience of millions of fans beyond a reasonable limit, it has been announced by the makers of superstar Rajinikanth’s upcoming film 2.0 that the film would be hitting the screens worldwide only on 25th January next year and not during Deepavali this year, as announced earlier.
Directed by Shankar and billed as a sequel to Shankar-Rajini’s 2010 mega-hit film Enthiran: The Robot, the shoot of 2.0 commenced in right earnest late in 2015. In fact, for a few months, Rajini shot simultaneously for this film as well as for the Pa Ranjith-directed Kabali, which released last July and turned out to be a colossal hit film. Ironically enough, making of 2.0 doesn’t appear to be over even now.
K. Subashkaran of Lyka Productions produces the film at a never-before heard cost of more than Rs.500 crores. British actress Amy Jackson, who recently acquired her own posh house in Chennai, plays the female lead in the film though not as Rajini’s romantic pair. Bollywood’s Akshay Kumar and Sudanshu Pandey play the antagonists in 2.0 which has music by Oscar award-winner A.R. Rahman.
Contrary to expectations of Rajini’s fans to watch the mega-starrer during Deepavali this year, the makers have said that as the editing/re-working of computer-generated graphic sequences in the film are likely to take a long time, it has been decided to release the film not in 2017 but early in 2018 on 25th January. Rajini’s fans and movie-goers can’t do anything other than waiting!
