Not sure how superstar Rajinikanth’s fans might react to this; it has been reported that director Pa. Ranjith’s next film, which is to star in the lead, might again show him essaying an old man’s character!
Rajini played the title role of an aged don in last year’s colossal hit film Kabali which also broke quite a few box-office records on its way to collection more than Rs.500 crores at the global box-office. ‘Kalaipuli’ S. Thanu left no stone unturned in launching a new-age publicity campaign wherein images of Kabali were also painted on quite a few number of Air-Asia aircrafts which were on international sorties.
Ranjith hinted last year that his next film would again be with Rajini in the lead but denied that it would be the sequel to Kabali. It is said that Rajini’s character in his new, untitled film with Ranjith would be more powerful than the one he essayed with aplomb in Kabali. Whether fans would agree to seeing their ‘Thalaivar’ again in an old get-up remains a million-dollar question, though!
The film is likely to go to floors in the first fortnight of next month. National award-winning Bollywood actress Vidya Balan is likely to be paired up opposite Rajini in this film which would be produced by Rajini’s son-in-law and national award-winning actor Dhanush.
