A city Court has rejected television-and-film actress Nandini’s plea for grant of anticipatory bail as she fears arrest in the case of her husband’s suicide.
Nandini, who debuted as an actress with national award-winning director Pandiraj’s Vamsam a few years back, starred in a few more films but became a household name in Tamil films when she starred in the character of ‘Mynaa’ in the daily soap Saravanan Meenatchi on Vijay TV which ran for many years. She later shifted her base to Zee Tamil TV where she hosts reality shows and stars in tele-serials.
She got married to Karthik, who ran a gym in Chennai, in June, 2016 and they lived together at their Valasaravakkam residence only for a few months before deciding to part ways after they developed serious and irreconcilable differences among them.
In the meantime, Karthik committed suicide last week, leaving a suicide note blaming Nandini’s father Rajendran as the one who ‘provoked’ him to take his own life.
Nandini, however, denied it and said that Karthik had cheated many individuals by taking money from them on false promise of getting good jobs. She said she sought divorce from Karthi which wasn’t given by him.
Relatives of Karthik say Nandini’s insistence on divorce forced Karthik to take the extreme step. Soon after his suicide, Nandini had filed an anticipatory bail plea with the Principal Sessions Court.
When the bail plea came up for hearing yesterday, the Judge dismissed the bail plea stating that it was not ‘entertainable’. The rejection of the bail plea means that Nandini might face arrest, along with her father, at any time now.
