Like Lord Ram’s ‘vanvas’ (refuge in forest) which lasted for 14 years in epic Ramayana, actress Gautami is returning to Malayalam films after a long hiatus of 14 years!
A frontline actress in all the South Indian languages from the late-eighties till the late nineties, Gautami starred in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam films during this period. She shared a ‘living together’ relationship with Kamal Haasan (her co-star of many films) till she broke it a few months back stating that thins had reached a ‘certain point’ beyond which there was no charm in living with Kamal any further.
Gautami, who returned to acting with the 2015 hit film Papanasam, has now agreed to play a pivotal role in an upcoming Malayalam film directed by Surendran. The shoot of the film commenced last week i.e. on 27th March.
Gautami’s last Malayalam outing was the 2003 film Varum Varunnu Vannu and thus makes a comeback after 14 years hoping earnestly for a ‘grand welcome’. Though it hasn’t been revealed as to what sort of a character Gautami would be essaying in the film, her Mollywood fans are nevertheless happy that she is back in action!
