The craze among Kollywood film-makers, artistes and directors to ‘garner’ titles of superstar Rajinikanth’s hit films of the past never dies down. Last week, two of Rajini’s famed ‘titles’ were taken up by two music director-turned-heroes.
G.V. Prakash Kumar’s upcoming film has been titled as Kuppaththu Raja, a hit film of Rajini which released in 1979. G.V. Prakash Kumar, one of the busiest heroes in Kollywood with as many as 6-7 films on his hands, has said that this film would be directed by Baba Bhaskar. Scintillating (plump, though) Poonam Bajwa and another heroine would be paired up opposite G.V. Prakash in the film.
Vijay Antony, who has been delivering one hit film after the other during the past 2-3 years, has ‘hijacked’ the title of Rajini’s old hit film Kali as the title of his next film. Incidentally enough, the film would be directed by Krugiga, wife of Udhayanidhi. Released in 1980, Kali was a huge commercial hit which catapulted Rajini to his superstar status.
It turns out that Pa. Ranjith, who directed Rajini in his last year’s colossal hit film Kabali, wanted to have Kali as the title of his hit film Madras.
