Like life, films too have to be different in content: Namitha

Namitha, who was once the ‘dreamgirl’ of every Tamil youth and who starred in many films during the early and middle phases of the last decade, has said that like life, films too would have to show different colours and facets of the script-writers’ abilities.

The six-foot tall actress, who has shed lots of flab around her waist in recent times, is now hosting a dance reality show for a popular regional television channel. Her Tamil accent has a huge fan following; she has so far politely resisted requests from various political parties to campaign in their favour.

She has a solitary film on her hands in the form of Pottu which has been in the making for a long time. She is also said to have bagged an important role of elder sister of Sivakarthikeyan in an upcoming film starring the latter in the lead. In order to keep herself in limelight, Namitha doesn’t spurn invites to attend audio-launches and other film-related events.

Speaking at the audio-launch of Yaagan, she said “The film’s crew appears to be very different. Usually, the heroine may be from the North and the hero might be a local person; here, it is the opposite: hero is from Denmark while the heroine is a typical local girl.

Like in life, it can’t be the same thing again and again. Script-writers should think of different scripts to engage the audiences’ interest. I’m sure this film is one such film which would compel the viewers to come to theatres,” Namitha concluded.
