Actor Simbu has asserted that he continues to be in films mainly to help those who had stood by him in times of crises in the past. “I’m repaying all those who had helped me in the past; this intention alone – and not the desire to continue to act in film –kept me going,” he has asserted.
After delivering a hit film last year in Gautham Vasudev Menon’s Achcham Yenbadhu Madamaiyada, Simbu’s upcoming film would be the Adik Ravichandran-directed Anbanavan Asarathavan Adangathavan. The teaser of the film, featuring Simbu in an elderly role of ‘Ashwin Thatha’, has been loved by his fans and movie-goers. On the eve of the release of the teaser, Simbu spoke to his fans live via Facebook.
Replying to a query, he said he was happy about the response to the teaser. “I don’t intend to continue to star in films and remain popular. In fact, I’m in films now only to help those who helped me when I faced crises in the past; my only objective of doing films is to help them out and not to star in films and earn money. I’m not competing with anyone but myself.
“It’s a very different film and the teaser is meant to tease/entertain my fans. We have three different characters and also another ‘mysterious’ fourth character which would be a huge suspense as and when the movie releases in theatres,” he said. To another query about him putting on weight, Simbu said that it was his ‘personal issue’ and that he didn’t need to answer personal queries.
