After Aishwarya Dhanush’s Bharatnatyam performance at the United Nations earned the wrath of popular classical dancers like Anita Ratnam, who has openly criticized it on her social media platform, Aishwarya’s spokesperson Aditi Ravindranath presents the other side of the story.
“The last few weeks have been disturbing, to say the least. Have been seeing multiple trolls and trolling of innocent people who have just quietly been doing their work. But now I should speak up, seeing the unfair trolls on Aishwarya Dhanush. The video published is a segment of the scene of killing asura by Durga and therefore it is an important part of shaktiism which venerates the goddess Durga. Without seeing the performance in totality one has no rights to comment,” said Aditi Ravidranath.
“I feel the trolls are targeting her because she’s a celebrity, to me that’s a bias as much as gender bias. Having worked with her, I know the genuine hard work sincerity & the effort she takes in everything she undertakes. All I request is sensitivity & understanding from everyone. Let’s use social media productively. This is a plea from a working woman. Thank you all,” she added.
