It has been reported from reliable sources that the talented Bollywood’s national award-winning actress Vidya Balan is to pair up opposite superstar Rajinikanth in his upcoming film to be directed by Pa. Ranjith.
Not many are aware that the 38-year old Vidya Balan, born in Mumbai to Tamil-speaking parents Balan and Saraswathy, was to make her debut in films as heroine opposite Srikanth way back in 2003. She was first signed by Lingusamy to play the heroine Run and later in Maestro Ilaiyaraaja’s musical hit film Manasellam but was ousted from these films for not ‘emoting adequately’.
Kollywood’s loss became Bollywood’s gain as Vidya later moved to Bollywood where she tasted instant success and went on to win the coveted national award for ‘best actress’ for her awesome performance as ‘Silk’ Smitha in her biopic The Dirty Picture. She would now be making her debut in Kollywood by pairing up opposite superstar Rajinikanth in Kabali fame Pa. Ranjith’s next directorial venture.
To be produced by Rajini’s son-in-law and the national award-winning actor Dhanush, the film hasn’t yet been titled. It is said that Vidya immediately said ‘yes’ to the offer of pairing up opposite Rajini but hasn’t yet allocated call-sheet dates to shoot for the film. It may be noted that she was in the reckoning to play Rajini’s heroine in K.S. Ravikuamr’s Lingaa and Pa. Ranjith’s Kabali as well.
