Actor Kamal Haasan is all set to take up work relating to releasing his long-delayed sequel Vishwaroopam II as the work on his latest film Sabaash Naidu has hit a stumbling block for a variety of reasons.
Released exactly four years back, Kamal Haasan’s Vishwaroopam faced plenty of pre-release blues, even forcing the actor to consider ‘shifting his base’ to somewhere outside Tamil Nadu for the remainder of life. Fortunately, nothing of that sort occurred and Vishwaroopam turned out to be one of the most significant hit films in Kamal Haasan’s career.
Sabaash Naidu, which was launched in the second half of last year, has been plagued by problems right from the first day of its shoot. Rajeev Kumar, the director, fell ill on the eve of the commencement of the film’s shoot (he hasn’t recovered yet) and Kamal took over the mantle of direction. He, however, underwent a personal tragedy when he broke his leg and remained bed-ridden for a few months; Gautami, his wife of 13 years, chose to go away from him, ending their many years of ‘live-in’ relationship.
The resumption of shoot of Sabaash Naidu has been hampered in view of the visa restrictions imposed by the new regime in U.S. As such, Kamal has now started work to release his Vishwaroopam II whose shoot had long been wrapped up. “Only technical and legal issues are to be tackled and we hope to release the film in a few months’ time,” Kamal says.
