K.V. Anand, the cinematographer-turned-filmmaker who is directing Vijay Sethupathi in his upcoming film Kavan, has lavished praised on ‘Makkal Selvan’ saying that Vijay Sethupathi possessed the knack of doing many things which most ‘mass heroes’ can hardly thing of doing.
Madonna Sebastian, T. Rajendar, Vikranth, Chandini Tamilarasan, Pandiarajan, Jagan and Akashdeep Saighal play prominent roles in the film. Anand, who once worked with the popular journal Illustrated Weekly of India as its main photographer, later gave vent to his passion of directing films.
“The protagonist in the film doesn’t hit back when attacked by others; among all the mass heroes, Vijay Sethupathi alone can bring out this particular aspect convincingly on screen and that was why I signed him up to play the lead role in Kavan,” says Anand, praising the bearded Vijay Sethupathi who also appears sans his trademark beard in the film.
Anand was also praising T. Rajendar’s effort. “His commitment was exemplary and though his co-stars took many takes, he never complained and went on to deliver his dialogues every time with the same precision,” Anand says. He also added that he repeated Vijay Sethupathi and Madonna, pair of last year’s hit film Kaadhalum Kadandhu Pogum, after he was impressed by their on-screen chemistry.
