Actor Aravind Swamy has appealed to Jallikkattu organizers to ensure the safety of the fighters as well as the spectators.
Doubts are expressed in various quarters as to whether the Jallikkattu, which the State wants to hold today (apparently to bring the State-wide protests to an end), would be held as per schedule as protesters in Alanganalloor (Madurai) and other cities and towns have rejected the State Govt.’s emergency ordinance to holdJallikkattu and have asserted that they only want a permanent solution to the issue.
Governor Vidyasaga Rao promulgated the emergency ordinance late in the evening yesterday after which it was expected that Jallikkattu would be held in Pudukkottai, Salem, Thanjavur and Alanganalloor. However, Alanganalloor protesters not only sent back the bulls sent yesterday but have reportedly dug up huge pits so as to prevent chief-minister O. Panneerselvam from arriving at the venue to kickstart Jallikkattu.
Tweeting on his Twitter account, Arvind Swamy said that organizers should ensure complete safety of fighters as well as the spectators. “It is also their duty to ensure that bulls are not harmed in any manner to as to sustain Jallikkattu for long,” he said.
