Actor-screenplay writer-director-producer-editor-cinematographer-music director-playback singer T. Rajendhar, one of the rarely highly qualified multi-faceted personalities of Tamil films, released yesterday a special Jallikkattu song composed by music director Sam D. Raj of Vandhaa Malai fame.
Penned by journalist Senthil Kumaran and sung by enterprising trio of Vijayalakshmi, Udhay and Shravan, the Idhudhaanda Jallikkattu song was released by T. Rajendhar yesterday via YouTube. TR blessed the composer, singers and the lyric writer at a simple function yesterday in which film-maker Y.Z. Durai took part.
Releasing the song at his residence, TR lauded the makers of the song for choosing the most appropriate time to release the song, at a time when the Jallikkattu fever has gripped the State’s youths, students and women in particular and people in general.
“I liked Senthi’s lyrics which are noble as well a sharp as they drive home a message. Sam D. Raj’s composing and singing by the trio by pronouncing the words clearly deserve special mention. I don’t agree to abuse PETA by using the word ‘dog’ as dog is seen as God Bhairava by Hindus. For the kind of hypocrisy it displays, PETA doesn’t even deserve to be verbally abused,” TR Said.
