Superstar Rajinikanth attended the day-long fast protest organized by Kollywood yesterday to express its solidarity with the striking students and youths in favour of Jallikkattu.
Tamil Nadu has been witnessing a silent yet powerful revolution of sorts during this week as students and youths have taken up the struggle for Jallikkattu to a new level by organizing protests all over the State in general and in particular in Chennai, Trichy, Madurai, Coimbatore and many small cities and towns. It now appears there might be a solution in sight as an ordinance might be passed by the State today.
Actors and actresses, headed by Nadigar Sangam president Nassar, vice-presidents Ponvannan and Karunas, treasurer Karthi and general secretary Vishal, sat on a day-long fast inside a special pandal erected at the premises of the Sangam’s office in T. Nagar yesterday. Ajith, who had flown in from Bulgaria to take part in the protest, was spotted donning a black shirt. Superstar Rajinikanth was among the early birds.
Kamal Haasan, who had earlier asked Kollywood to keep away from the Jallikkattu protest of youths, skipped the protest fast and surprisingly enough, Vijay who had posted a video on his Twitter account in favour of Jallikkattu and had opined that banning PETA in Tamil Nadu would be a great news, chose to skip the event. Others who attended included Suriya, Rahman, Mohan, Sathyarj and Sivakarthikeyan.
