Choreographer-turned-film-maker-turned-hero Raghava Lawrence has lauded actor Vijay’s support for Jallikkattu. He has also said that he was ready to offer financial assistance of up to Re.1 crore to Jallikkattu protesters who have been scorching Chennai’s Marina Beach for the past four days.
Tamil youths and students have come together on their own in what is seen as ‘unprecedented’ by neutral observers as their protest against Jallikkattu is neither supported nor sponsored by any major political party in the State. Protesters across the State have made it clear that they didn’t want politicians’ support and have asked film celebrities to join them if they wanted to do so.
After Vijay tweeted on his Twitter account stating that the entire State would jump in joy if PETA is banned in India, Raghava has lauded Vijay’s comments and his support to Jallikkattu. Raghava Lawrence and Vijay Sethupathi were among the prominent Kollywood personalities who called on the striking protesters at the Marina yesterday.
Lawrence, a known philanthropist, has also said that he was ready to provide up to Re.1 crore to meet the expenses on water, food, medicine, blankets, etc. needed for the lakhs of protesters (including women and children) who have been spending the past four days and nights at the Marina Beach.
