Anjali, a transgender, is getting paired up opposite Malayalam megastar Mammootty in an upcoming Tamil film titled as Peranbu and directed by Ram.
Ram, who made Kattradhu Tamizh, Thanga Meengal and the yet-to-be-released Taramani, has launced Peranbu as his fourth directorial venture. Mammootty and Anjali (who has been seen on-again, off-again in Tamil films) are paired up opposite each other in this film produced by P.L. Thenappan.
Anjali Ameer, a 21-year old transgender who recently underwent gender conversion surgery and has turned into a beautiful woman, is Mammootty’s second heroine in the film. Ram casting Anjali as the second heroine has earned him praise from the third sex, which often feels neglected and insulted in films and in public places.
Anjali was reportedly very apprehensive on the first day of the film’s shoot but was encouraged by Mammootty and Ram, who supported her by making her feel comfortable at the shooting spot.
Anjali, who is also a popular model, found a couple of years ago that her body had been undergoing rapid changes and later underwent sex-change surgery. She would also be taking part in the LIFW ramp walk to be held in Mumbai in February.
