Trouble has erupted for Ameer Sultan a.k.a. Ameer, the actor-director-producer, with regard to the title of his upcoming directorial venture Santhana Devan.
Ameer, director of notable films such as Mounam Pesiyadhe, Raam and Paruthi Veeran, committed ‘hara-kiri’ when he made the ‘Jayam’ Ravi-Neetu Chandra starrer Aadhi Baghavan in 2013. The film not only fared badly at the box-office but also spoilt Ameer’s string of successful films as director. Later, Ameer admitted that the film was made only to show to others that he could make ‘action’ films too!
Some time back, an announcement was made that Ameer’s next directorial venture would be Peranbu Konda Periyorgale but the film didn’t proceed after the initial schedule of shoot. Ameer announced last week the launch of his next film in Santhana Devan with himself, Arya, Arya’s brother Sathya and Adithi essaying lead roles. Ameer’s favourite Yuvan Shankar Raja is scoring the film’s music.
Produced and directed by Ameer, Santhana Devan has Vairamuthu penning all the lyrics. In the meantime, netizens have objected to Ameer choosing the surname of a particular cast as part of the film’s title. They have been tweeting that they won’t allow the film to be released unless Ameer relented and changed the title.
