Actor Kamal Haasan, playback signer Chinmayi, actress Raadhika and television anchor Bhavana have come out openly in support of Trisha, who has been taken to task on social networking sites by netizens for being part of PETA, whose petition with the Supreme Court of India against Jallikkattu has resulted in the continuing ban on the traditional Tamil sport for three years in a row.
Trisha’s comments that those demeaning women in the name of Tamil culture should hang their heads in shame hasn’t helped matters as she continues to face ‘music’ on social networking sites. Finally, she has got some support from film and television fraternity as Kamal Haasan, Raadhika, playback singer Chinmayi and popular television host Bhavana have openly supported Trisha’s stance.
Kamal, who said a few days back that eating Biriyani should also be banned going by the same logic of banning Jallikkattu, has said that netizens should spare ‘poor Trisha’ who would have done nothing with purpose. “Let’s spare her, not stoop down and let the maiden (Trisha) and the bull; I always support cultured people!” Kamal Haasan has recorded thus on his Twitter account, thus coming to Trisha’s rescue.
“Those recording such messages on Twitter are cowards who have no identity of their own; don’t let your mind disturbed by these remarks,” television host Bhavana has said. “I’m proud of my Tamil origin but at the same time, I strongly condemn those who record views/opinions with the purpose of hurting others,” Bhavana concluded.
Though Raadhika and Chinmayi have also supported Trisha, Nadigar Sangam vice-president Karunas has condemned Trisha’s attitude and said that he won’t allow Trisha to shoot for her upcoming films in Tamil Nadu.
