K. Balachander was overwhelmed with emotions after watching Dasavathaaram (also referred to as Dasavathaaram).
The man who introduced Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth to Tamil cinema said he was not able to sleep the whole night after watching Dasavathaaram. He said that the images from the film kept coming back to him; he could not think of anything else but Dasavathaaram. The film’s marvel and beautiful effects lingered on and kept him awake. The veteran director’s excitement level was very high.
He also summed up the magnitude of this magnum opus of Kamal Haasan by saying that it will take about 30 to 50 years to make such an epic film again; when it is made, it would have to be by Kamal again.
We can completely understand how proud K. Balachander will be now after having witnessed the monumental growth of his students, Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan, both of whom have become the two great icons of Tamil cinema. In fact, when it comes to Indian cinema, only three names come up: Amitabh Bachchan, Rajinikanth, and Kamal Haasan.
